Week of October 25, 2009
Monday - Psalm 41
1. What did David say that the Lord would do? (Vs. 1-13) What will He do for us?
2. David needed healing because he had sinned. This was probably not a physical ailment. (Vs. 4) When we sin, our heart gets sick, we lose our joy, our strength and our hope. If we want to remain emotionally healthy, let us honor God and His commandments with all that we have within us.
3. Vs. 9 and Zechariah 11:12, 13 give a prophecy that was fulfilled in detail and there is a time frame of 500 years before Zechariah, and 500 years after him, that it was fulfilled by Judas when Jesus was betrayed. (Matt. 26:15) Did David's enemy triumph over him? (Vs. 11)
Tuesday - Psalm 42
1. How much do we hunger and thirst for Christ? (Vs. 1, 2) Let us spend time in our prayer closet and truly seek Him out! Begin today, get before the Lord and cry out for Him.
2. Imagine how festive the worship was in Old Testament times! (Vs. 4) How much more should it be today when we gather together in church? This coming Sunday, worship with all your heart, and draw nearer to God.
3. When we take our eyes off of God, we lose hope. (Vs. 5) Let us take our eyes off of our circumstance, and keep our eyes on Him! Let us praise Him in the midst of our trials!
4. When we allow ourselves to be downcast, and show lack of faith it causes unbelievers to question our faith. (Vs. 9, 10) Speak to your soul today, and encourage yourself in the Lord! Praise Him in spite of the circumstances, He is Faithful!
Wednesday - Psalm 43
1. Expect God's Word to give you guidance today. (Vs. 3)
2. Joining together in corporate worship expecting God's Presence has been the desire of true believers of every age. (Vs. 3, 4)
Thursday - Psalm 44
1. Where does victory come from? (Vs. 3-8)
2. The psalmist has a clear conscience. (Vs. 17-21) There is nothing that can be hidden from God, He knows our heart.
3. The psalmist is in deep need when he cries out to God. (Vs. 23-26) Let us not hesitate to call out to the Lord when we are in need! If there is something on your heart today, cry out!
Friday - Psalm 45
1. In Hebrews, the writer applies verses 6 and 7 to Jesus, the Son of God, and the Messiah. (Vs. 6, 7) (Heb. 1:8, 9)
2. This bridal Psalm prefigures the relationship of Christ and His bride, the church. (Eph. 5:32)
3. Meditate upon the time that you, as the Bride will meet with Jesus!! (Vs. 15) Glory!
4. Let us be faithful in bearing witness to Jesus, our Messiah, Lord, and King! (Vs. 17) Let us never be ashamed of the Gospel, and be bold in witnessing the saving, healing, love and mercy of Jesus Christ. Pass this down to your generations!
Saturday - Psalm 46
1. "Present" help means that God is present, NOW, to help in time of trouble. He is Reliable; He is proven to be a stronghold in the past so that we do not have to fear for the future. Give Him glory for what He has done, and will do! (Vs. 1-3)
2. In the midst of a storm there is a river of supply in God's sanctuary that produces life. (Vs. 4 -7) God is in the midst of it! He will help at just the "right" time! He is never late! Think of past situations and consider what trials you are going through right now. God is there!
3. Be still… know that He is God. (Vs. 10, 11) This is not a call for silent worship, it is "cease and desist," it is God who will be exalted in victory. Praise Him because without Him, we do not stand a chance! Stop! Let Him work, and then give Him glory!
